I admire journalists and educators because they are TRAILBLAZERS.

I am, first and foremost, a storyteller who aims to raise future storytellers and help them blaze new trails.

My own story:
I was born and raised in
Salt Lake City, Utah, with abundant Mormon Pioneer ancestry. Family journals and artifacts tell rich stories about Utah's earliest settlers' trek across the heartland of America. Those stories contributed to my affinity for telling trailblazers' stories.

It was a standout experience during my graduate education when I had the opportunity to follow a Sudanese refugee family during their first two weeks in America. These trailblazers are building tomorrow's great stories.

Being a storyteller draws me to visiting museums and libraries as my pastime. Additionally, I am at home on an ice rink. (How does that fit? It's another story...) But nothing beats walking my dog.

I like to dig deep, very deep, to find a story.

I'm skilled in crafting short or long media assets to accomplish editorial and professional communications goals.

However, I love to flesh out facts, find data, unusual antidotes, and unique sources to create enterprising work. Consequently, I especially excel at anything that requires research and developing long-form journalism, whether the process results in a feature story or a data-saturated infographic. I also enjoy the storytelling process on social media, videos, and podcasts. It's not the tool that makes a story; it's the storyteller.
